How to lay a stone bottom artificial pond
In order to create an outdoor pond with an unusual bottom, lined with stones, you need to create a good waterproofing. It does not make sense to pour water directly into a dug trench without having done so, because instead of a reservoir you will get a swamp. The first layer of insulation is usually made of polyethylene or liquid rubber, less often - polymer bitumen or PVC. You can buy a ready-made swimming pool, which can only be dug in, but it is more difficult to lay it out with stones, as the container can be deformed and even cracked from the solution or glue on the inner walls.
Laying out the film, it is necessary to capture and the shore about a meter. The film is pressed with large stones on the banks and proceed to the bottom arrangement.
Ways to display stone
The most reliable way is to fill stones with cement, but at the same time many of them can completely disappear under the solution. Therefore, starting from the center, it will be more correct to pour concrete and reinforce stones on it, pressing them into the solution. The solution should not be too liquid, since in this case it will flow down to the center before it hardens, and the stones in the center will remain under its thickness, and the stones will not be fixed from the sides.
It is best to pick up large and beautiful stones in advance and, if possible, wash them before cementing, since the dirt will fall into the water, making it muddy. If there is an abundance of time and patience from the masters, you can take multicolored small stones and lay them out at the bottom of any of the mosaics you like. It is not recommended to use stones with sharp edges, even if the reservoir is not planned to be used for swimming. Accidentally in the water, you can seriously damage the feet of such a coating. It is best to use stones rolled with water, the sharp edges of which, if any, are directed downwards.
When concreting the bottom, water will need to be poured 3-4 times for about a week, and then be pumped out, since the concrete will release harmful impurities until the water has completely washed them out of the frozen solution.
You can do without concreting and try to create conditions close to natural in an artificial reservoir. To do this, sand is poured over the film, stones are put into it and water is poured.Water plants can be planted on the shores and the bottom, fish can be released into the pond. But stones in such conditions will inevitably grow over silt and will no longer be visible in the second year. In order to maximally delay this moment and minimize the risk of water blooming, it is not necessary to use soil and clay for filling the bottom. If you put fish in a pond, pollution will still not be avoided, and the pond will have to be cleaned.
