Top 5 Best Water Bottles 2018 (Glass, Insulated, Gym, Hiking, Travel)
The Best Water Bottle For Every Workout
As a fitness editor, I've tested out more water bottles than I can count (and have built up a bigger collection than I'd like to admit!). While finding the right water bottle may seem like a non-issue (as long as it holds water, you're good to go, right?), they're definitely not all created equal.
Some plastic bottles that are supposedly dishwashable get grimy after a few cycles. Some are too big to fit in the holders on cardio machines. And then there’s the issue of finding the right bottle for the right task. Breaking out a wide-mouth bottle mid-run can end with a water-all-over-your-face situation (not that I'm speaking from experience...).
Here, I've rounded up some of my all-time faves for every activity.
If you want a water bottle that's just as fun as it is functional, the S'well is a crowd favorite. The sleek, lightweight design comes in an endless array of colors and patterns—so you can pick one that perfectly suits your personality. And if that's not enough, you can even personalize the bottle. This one is great for any occasion, be it your spin class or gym workout.
Hydroflask is known for it's double-walled vacuum insulation which keeps cold drinks cold for 24 hours, and hot drinks hot for 12. I love this feature because, when I'm not using the bottle to transport water, it's a great on-the-go coffee container. This bottle comes with a standard twist-off top, or you can opt for the narrow-mouth sports cap.
What I love most about this bottle is that it feels super sturdy, thanks to the stainless steel construction. Plus the lid has both a wide mouth and narrow mouth option, to suit your preference. The convenient handle is also great for carrying the bottle around with ease! Plus, like the HydroFlask, it keeps cool drinks cool and hot drinks hot for hours.
This pretty bottle is the epitome of classy. It's constructed out of BPA-free glass, has a natural bamboo cap, and includes a pretty silicon sleeve for better grip. Bring this one to your barre or yoga class, in a color that perfectly coordinates with your athleisure outfit.
The Nalgene bottle is a classic (plus a throwback to my high school cross country days!)—and the brand is still as reliable and affordable as ever. This one has a lockable lid, which makes it easy to hydrate while on the treadmill, or in between circuits.
Again, this bottle is a classic that's still going strong. The retractable straw is perfect for quick, no-spill sips. It's light, easy to hold, and has a loop that can hook onto a carabiner or around your finger. Word to the wise: The straw does start to get a little nasty after extensive usage, and is a bit challenging to clean. But, luckily, the brand sells replacements.
This silicone water bottle is perfect for on-the-go hydration. It's totally flexible, and completely rolls up once it's empty. And don't worry about its rubbery exterior, it's totally dishwasher safe!
The Platypus pretty much saved my life during a post-college backpacking trip.
